With pantyhose a staple and inevitable part of her favorite wardrobe, Kathrine Drost Lewinsky was always on the lookout for good, functional pantyhose which were not only durable, but also produced with values that reflected her own. The pantyhose's place in the general wardrobe had taken a boring turn in society and the essential garment had lost its status in the fashion industry as a luxury product created from silk and good craftsmanship. Craftsmanship, good materials and a focus on durability forgotton, and replaced with mass production in cheap materials in the fast fashion industry. Due to its cheap price and fragile durability, tights and pantyhose quickly acquired a "use-and-throw-away" status. In particular, the consumption of nylon stockings, which has been unsustainable for more than 60 years, was something that made an impression on Kathrine, who wanted to create durable tights with the smallest possible impact on the planet. After 15 years of experience working in the fashion industry, she decided to be and create the change she was asking for, and in 2012 Dear Denier was born.

Dear Denier

Since then, the brand has become known for its beautiful and fashionable (but seasonless) ankle socks, tights in all the colors of the rainbow, classic patterns in good and fully traceable materials such as cotton, wool and cashmere. Recently, lingerie with beautiful lace has become part of the range. But the brand's beautiful designs and fashion awareness are not at the expense of the vision of caring for the planet and people.

Dear Denier explains that they represent "a modern generation of tights and stockings that challenge the industry's status quo through functional, comfortable and durable products made responsibly with consideration for people and the planet" (Deardenier.dk)

And precisely responsibility is the key word in the company's DNA, for whom it is just as important to create a positive change as it is to design tights. And the ambitions are big, because the goal is not just to have the smallest possible negative footprint on the planet. In fact, Kathrine and the team strive to make a big mark, but a positive one.

"We see our company as part of an ecosystem where we want to have a positive influence on customers, suppliers, the local community around us and the environment. We create solutions that overcome the ethical and environmental challenges that modern hosiery production creates. Tights represent one of the biggest trends in the textile industry; large overconsumption, low quality and highly polluting production" (deardenier.dk)

Dear Denier

The tights and lingerie are produced in an Italian zero waste factory in recycled, fully traceable and certified materials. All suppliers sign a code of conduct, where they undertake not to use child labour, forced labor and to pay at least a living wage, just as they are regularly audited by third-party organisations, which ensures that everyone has a safe working environment and rights.
