There's something extra special about gifting a gorgeous set of lingerie that just fits. But how do you find out which size to buy? It can be difficult to find out the size when you have to buy lingerie for someone other than yourself - especially if you are in unknown territory, since the order of sizes is different than just XS, S, M, L, XL. Read along here and get tips on finding the right size.

If it's your girlfriend you want to buy lingerie for, the easiest thing to do would be to look in her underwear drawer and read the label inside - if you feel comfortable looking in her drawer. If you're looking for a bra size, the brand you're looking for will often be by the bra's hooks.

The bra size consists of both a letter and a number, and it is important that you note both. The number indicates the circumference in centimeters measured under the bust around the body, and will typically be called 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, etc. The letter, typically from A to J, indicates the volume of the bust, where A is the smallest and J is the largest. The panty size is usually indicated by numbers: 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46 or letters: XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL.

The next thing you should be aware of is that there are often several different sizes on the same label inside the bra. Often it will be depicted on a small table where it says FR, EU or UK, and the number next to these will be different. The reason for this is that the order of magnitude varies depending on whether you are in France, other parts of Europe or the UK. You must always read the numbers and letters from the EU box.

If you want to be absolutely sure, it might be a good idea to take a photo of the entire tag inside the bra and of the bra itself. Which size she should use can also vary slightly depending on which type of bra it is. If you have a picture of the tag inside and a picture of the bra itself, our lingerie stylist will have a really good starting point to find something that fits perfectly. Another good tip is to bring one of her bras down to us in the store.

Besides keeping track of the size, it's a good idea to notice what style her lingerie is. Is she into lace? Is the bra padded or not? Is she fond of colours, or does she move more in neutral colors such as black and nude? It might be a good idea to choose something that isn't too far from what she already has in terms of fit or whether it's with/without padding, because you know it's something she feels comfortable with i, which is the most important. A set of underwear can be just as beautiful with hand-stitched French lace, but if she doesn't feel comfortable in that particular type of underwear, it will be obvious when she wears it.
