Slips

Slips in silk, viscose and cotton

A slip functions as a practical layer between the skin and the outer dress. The material and length affect how the dress hangs and how the fabric moves. Silk slips have a smooth surface that allows lightweight fabrics to glide, while cotton or viscose slips can provide a more stable structure. Slips are typically available in neutral colours so that they remain discreet under clothing.

The selection includes short, knee-length and long slips in colours such as black, white and beige, as well as styles with subtle lace details.

Materials with different properties

Slips are made from a variety of materials, each with its own visual and technical qualities:

  • Silk: Hand-cut silk has long fibres that create a smooth surface with a natural sheen and a light drape. Silk slips are often worn under thin, lightweight dresses.
  • Viscose: Viscose has a soft, smooth texture similar to silk but with a more matte finish.
  • Cotton: Cotton slips, including those made from ultralight cotton, are light and airy. Some styles are ribbed, giving the fabric more structure.

The category includes both solid-colour styles and slips with French lace at the neckline or along the edges.

Slips in different lengths

The length of a slip affects how it works under different types of dresses:

  • Short slips typically end mid-thigh and are worn under short dresses or tunics.
  • Knee-length slips reach the knee or just below it and are suitable for wearing under midi dresses.
  • Long slips reach the ankles and are worn under long dresses. Many of these styles are made from silk for a smooth, continuous drape.

Black slips

A black slip is suitable for wearing under dark dresses, as it minimises visual contrast. The dark colour absorbs light and makes the slip less visible under tightly woven fabrics. Black styles are available in silk, viscose and cotton, with or without lace.

Slips with lace

Some slips feature French lace at the neckline or on the body. The lace often has a flat structure and may be hand-sewn to ensure a smooth finish without visible edges. These details add a decorative element without affecting the slip's function.

White and nude slips

Light-coloured slips in white, beige and nude tones reduce contrast against the skin and are typically worn under light-coloured dresses. The shades range from cool cream tones to warmer sand tones, so that the slip appears as discreet as possible under clothing.

Adjustable straps

Many slips feature adjustable straps, making it possible to adapt the length to the dress's neckline. The straps are often thin and discreet, and the adjustment is located at the shoulder for a simple, practical design.
